What Being a Feminist Means

 

Being a feminist means being proud to be a woman.

Being a feminist means choosing the career I want, whether it is being a stay a home mom, or a software engineer, or a biologist, or an athlete, or a journalist, or a model, or an artist.

Being a feminist means support my fellow woman, in her choices.

Being a feminist means I proudly possess what society thinks are feminine qualities.

Being a feminist means I proudly possess what society thinks are masculine qualities as well.

Being a feminist means I understand that men may also possess what society thinks are feminine and masculine qualities. Proudly.

Being a feminist means understanding that physically women are different than men, but the only person – man or woman – I should compare myself to, is myself.

Being a feminist means holding doors open because it is a polite gesture that is not owned by gentlemen, but should be owned by both women and men.

Being a feminist means understanding that society has taught us many sexist things, and not lashing out at my fellow woman and man for not seeing sexism but instead educate and discuss sexism.

Being a feminist means not hating men, or my fellow women for not being whom what society might deem is a feminist, but treating all men and women fairly.

Being a feminist means treating my fellow women and men with equal and fair dignity and respect, as I demand the same.
